14 Dreamy Cabins in Winthrop, WA Perfect for Your Next Trip

bed at one of the best cabins in Winthrop WA with a pillow that says relax

I’m a pro at finding cabins in Winthrop, WA. That’s because I try a new one at least once a year when my family goes for cross-country skiing, but more often I go twice a year so I can see the larches in North Cascades National Park.

When I visit Winthrop, I’m always stunned by the sheer beauty of the landscape. Rolling hilltops, snow-capped mountains, and sunny weather make it a year-round vacation destination. The town is also fun thanks to an Old West downtown district, a historic museum, unique shops, and seasonal ice rink, so even when you’re tired from hiking, you still have so much to do.

Winthrop is such a popular spot for nature lovers, families, and romantic getaway seekers alike. So, I’ve come up with a roundup of some of the best cabins in the Winthrop, WA and nearby Mazama and Twisp. Get ready to book your next trip, have some sun, and still enjoy all the comforts of home.

I’ve actually stayed at Trails End before with my family and their English bulldog. It’s a clean and modern cabin a short drive from downtown Winthrop. The primary bedroom in particular is stunning with gorgeous tile and a huge two-person shower.

I’ve always wanted to stay in a yurt. This one in particular has picturesque lighting, tons of windows, and somehow manages to fit a fireplace and mudroom.

Staying here puts you strategically on the Nordic ski and mountain bike trails. You’ll also be near the main lodge The Inn at Mazama, which shares grounds with the yurt. You can even use the Inn’s pool and tennis/pickleball courts free of charge.

Horseman’s Hideaway

This modern single-level cabin is perched in the Upper Methow Valley, just minutes away from several walking trails. The space is open concept with wood paneling, plenty of natural light, and a full-length deck equipped with Adirondack chairs for premium mountain views.

You’re about a mile away from the Mazama General Store, which is probably the exact opposite of what you picture when you think of a general store in the middle of the woods. It’s stocked with boutique items, handmade baked goods, and rows of wine.

Mazama Cabin

The modern Scandinavian decor in this cabin initially caught my eye, but its close proximity to some of the best cross-country skiing trails and North Cascades National Park is what has me convinced this is one of the best cabins in Winthrop, WA. It has hardwood floors throughout, a vaulted ceiling, and chef’s kitchen perfect for whipping up a meal after a strenuous day on the trails.

This modern Scandinavian cabin sits at the base of Cascade Ridge and puts you minutes from downtown Winthrop. It has a spacious fenced-in yard, so it’s perfect if you’re bringing a dog, and the kitchen is huge so you could easily spread out with a large group.

While the tranquility sounds great, the decor caught my eye. I love the balance of black and white with pops of color and mismatched patterns. That plus the fireplace, and you really have no reason to leave.

This hand-built cabin is also within walking distance from downtown Winthrop, making it the perfect jumping off point for exploring one of my favorite small towns in Washington while still being conveniently located on the Methow River. I’m obsessed with the number of outdoor spaces. It has a balcony, stone benches, a private deck, and a picnic table, each giving you a good vantage to watch your fellow vacationers float down the river.

Rocky Top Log Cabin

This log cabin sits in the Edelweiss area of Mazama adjacent to the national forest. Couples love coming here for the dog-friendly fenced-in yard, seclusion, and world class view of the Pasayten wilderness from the front porch. It has most of the amenities you could ever need, including a fireplace, a top-notch bed, and all the kitchen utensils you could ever need.

If you’re okay being away from civilization, this is another one of the cabins in Winthrop, WA worth seeking out. This cedar log home is nestled at the confluence of the Lost and Methow Rivers. The 35-foot glass prow windows face the river and the North Cascades National Park, which you can access by foot from the cabin.

This is the perfect spot if you’re traveling with dogs or a mix of nature lovers and cabin dwellers. Hikers, rock climbers, and swimmers can venture out on their own while the rest can relax by the river. Oh, and there’s no need to fight for the best room since every bedroom has a riverfront view.

Crazy Squirrels Cabin

This adorable cozy cabin is perfect for a couple that wants to sip coffee in solitude, then zip out for some cross-country skiing or nature walks right after. You’ll be in the Timberline Meadows community, which is a stone’s throw away from the Methows Trail and just 11 minutes from the Methow Valley Ciderhouse.

The cabin is small but has an open concept, so it’s comfortable for two. You’ll also get ski-in and ski-out access. Other fun amenities include a gas fireplace, a TV, and a wireless Bose stereo system.

This spacious cabin puts you in the middle of, well, nowhere, which is exactly why I picked it. Even if you don’t go when it’s snowing, you can catch some picturesque Goat Peak views.

This is the perfect cabin for a girl’s weekend since it comes with three bedrooms, each with a queen mattress, and two full bathrooms. You’re only a 13-minute drive from Lost River Winery, so you can go wine tasting then bring a bottle home and curl up in front of the fireplace.

The Sleeping Wolf

Can we all just take a moment and acknowledge how picturesque this log cabin is? Not to mention it has the most amenities of any cabin on this list, and it’s not that expensive.

There’s a hot tub in the winter, a pool in the summer, a ski trail parked right outside your front door, and river access. The cathedral ceilings make the place seem huge, and the gas fireplace keeps the house toasty warm. It also has an upstairs studio bedroom with its own entrance.

The Rainbow Lodge

This lakeside log home is located at the water’s edge on Freestone Lake at Wilson Ranch, close to the Freestone Inn. It has an open floor plan with huge ceilings, a riverstone fireplace, and an expansive back porch with lake views.

There are also two master bedrooms at opposite ends of the lodge for maximum privacy so it’s perfect for two couples. If you’re not up for a group activity, you can part ways and cross-country ski, hike, go birding, or fly fishing, all without having to drive.

George’s River House

I promise I do more than just ogle the aesthetics of cabins, but I couldn’t get over the industrial edge of this one. It’s hand-built around a large concrete waterway, and the concrete-lined bedroom walls leave you feeling like you’re in a cave. Well, a cave located on a river, but still.

It also has a wood-fired stove, a BBQ grill, and a fireplace. It’s surprisingly secluded despite being close to downtown. You’ll be able to see the swimmers on Methow River, but they won’t see you.
