Where to Stay in Scottsdale
Before diving in, I’m going to explain exactly where Scottsdale is and what the city is famous for, so you have an idea of what you’re getting into as you plan your weekend in Scottsdale AZ.
Where is Scottsdale?
Scottsdale is a major city neighboring the equally massive city of Phoenix in eastern Maricopa County. It’s centrally located in the Sonoran Desert, surrounded by canyons and dotted with cacti. To reach Scottsdale from the PNW, your best bet is to take the 2-3 hour flight from Seattle or Portland into Phoenix International Airport. It’s an affordable direct flight for as low as ~$50 one way! From there, rent a car for as low as ~$30/day and take the short drive to nearby Scottsdale. You could take advantage of a ride share, but if you’re planning to explore, you’ll definitely want your own wheels.

What is Scottsdale known for?
There’s no end to the list of things to do in Scottsdale. Here are some reasons why it’s worth a visit.
- Wine tasting the local juice (yes, Arizona is an up-and-coming wine region)
- Tons of unique Scottsdale restaurants and bars, including speakeasies!
- Hiking Camelback Mountain and nearby trails
- Shopping, especially in the historic Old Town
- Multiple art and history museums
- Local parks perfect for kids
- Luxury resorts for less money than other warm destinations

Where to stay in Old Town Scottsdale, AZ
If you want to stay within walking distance of the historic district and downtown action, here is where to stay in Scottsdale.
Senna House

The Senna House is a Hilton property and promises boutique accommodations in the heart of Old Town. The design is refined yet energetic, with Sonoran Desert-inspired decor and upscale amenities. There’s a rooftop pool overlooking mountain views, and an excellent on-site Mediterranean restaurant. Plus it’s within walking distance of everything Old Town has to offer.
Hotel Valley Ho
link to book | neighborhood: Downtown (get directions) | price: ~$200-400/nt | dog friendly | hot tub

Hotel Valley Ho has been an Old Town Scottsdale staple since 1956 and is known for its eccentric mid-century design. The grounds are lush, and despite the retro style, the amenities are contemporary. There’s an on-site spa, two pools, cabanas, and a vibe-y restaurant that looks like it came straight out of Mad Men.
Caesars Republic Scottsdale
link to book | neighborhood: Fashion Square (get directions) | price: ~$350-450/nt | dog friendly

Caesars is another Hilton property with chic, expertly-curated design. Staying here puts you at the heart of Fashion Square for all of your luxury shopping needs, though you’re also within walking distance to Old Town and Downtown. As for amenities, there’s a rooftop pool, and the restaurant, Luna, is overseen by celebrity chef Giada de Laurentiis.
Where to stay in downtown Scottsdale, AZ
If you want to stay in the heart of downtown Scottsdale, here are some of the best options.
Bespoke Inn
link to book | neighborhood: Arts District (get directions) | price: ~$550-750/nt | dog friendly | hot tub

The Bespoke Inn looks as if you’ve stepped into a French cottage B&B, but you’re really in the middle of Scottsdale. The owners have clearly set out to distinguish themselves from being just any other hotel. With a 43-foot-long infinity pool, bike rentals, and oversized suits, this is one of those hotels you would have to peel me away from! It’s perfect if you prefer more boutique hotel vibes.
The Scott Resort
link to book | neighborhood: Fashion Square (get directions) | price: ~$200-400/nt | dog friendly | hot tub

The Scott is an upscale modern hotel near Old Town and Downtwon. Each room has a pristine view of either the pool, the laguna, or the courtyard. The torch-lit pool and personal cabanas are reason enough to visit. The complimentary shuttle service, in-house spa, and Hemingway-themed bar are merely icing on the cake.
Hotel Adeline
link to book | neighborhood: Old Town (get directions) | price: ~$120-350/nt | dog friendly | hot tub

This Tribute portfolio hotel is located on the outskirts of Old Town near shopping, the Scottsdale waterfront, and several neighborhood parks. The hotel offers a 3,000-square foot infinity pool (with a dedicated bar), private cabanas, a restaurant, and a not-so-speakeasy whiskey bar.
Where to stay in Scottsdale, AZ with family
If you have little ones in tow or are rolling with a large multi-generational group, here’s where to stay in Scottsdale.
The Phoenician
link to book | neighborhood: Paradise Valley (get directions) | price: ~$500-1,000/nt | dog friendly | hot tub

This is definitely one of the more luxurious family-friendly resorts in Scottsdale, but what’s the harm in that? For the adults, there’s a spa, golf course, hot tub, and limo service. For the kids, there’s a splash pad, expansive lawns, pickleball courts, and interactive activities like outdoor movies and stargazing.
Kierland Fun House
link to book | Kierland | price: ~$500-800/nt | bedrooms: 6 | bathrooms: 4 | dog friendly | hot tub

This spacious Scottsdale home is conveniently located blocks from Kierland Commons and Scottsdale Quarter. In addition to the fire pit, pool, and hot tub, there’s plenty of bougie amenities to keep the kids busy. Let them play bocce ball or putt-putt while the adults break out the BBQ and play a round of billiards.
Desert Lotus
link to book | Paradise Valley | price: ~$600-1,000/nt | bedrooms: 5 | bathrooms: 3 | hot tub

This 2,400 square-foot home has a detached guest house so the kids can spread out and feel like they have their “own space”. Meanwhile, the adults can unwind in the oversized hot tub or heated pool. The main house even has a bonus room filled with arcade games, video games, and two Murphy beds.
Luxury hotels in Scottsdale, AZ
One of the best things about Scottsdale is that you can find luxurious resorts for way less than they’d cost in other warmer destinations like Hawaii or California. Here are some of my favorite.
Omni Montelucia
link to book | neighborhood: Paradise Valley (get directions) | price: ~$475-875/nt | dog friendly | hot tub

I’ve stayed at Omni Montelucia and was immediately taken away by its Spanish architecture, luxe spa, and views of Camelback Mountain. The resort’s design is meant to transport you to the sun-drenched landscapes of Andalusia in southern Spain, and they pull no punches. The resort’s archways, tiled courtyards, and hand-carved wooden doors evoke the romance of old-world Europe, while the modern touches leave no room for wanting.
Grand Hyatt Scottsdale
link to book | neighborhood: Gainey Ranch (get directions) | price: ~$550-1,000/nt | dog friendly | hot tub

In a city filled with luxury resorts, The Grand Hyatt is one of my favorites. It sits in the McDowell Mountains overlooking the sweeping landscape. There’s a golf course exclusively available to guests, as well as a spa, classy lounge, six restaurants/cafes, and a 2.5-acre water playground for the kids.
The Scottsdale Resort & Spa
link to book | neighborhood: McCormick Ranch (get directions) | price: ~$200-500/nt | dog friendly

The Scottsdale Spa is another piece of the Hilton portfolio, and this resort just underwent a huge makeover. After spending over $40 million on renovations in 2024, this resort is decked out to the nines. There’s a heated pool with a private bar, four restaurants (including a speakeasy), a spa, and a golf course. Larger groups can even book a two-story villa and get their own heated pool.
Boulders Resort & Spa
link to book | neighborhood: Pinnacle Peak (get directions) | price: ~$400-575/nt | hot tub

This resort is another Hilton property that’s high on my list of where to stay in Scottsdale. Even looking at pictures of the view from the pool makes me feel like I’ve stepped onto another planet. The surrounding landscape is captivating, as are the thoughtful amenities and award-winning spa. The resort even offers excursions for rock climbing, nature watching, horseback riding, moonlight biking, or Grand Canyon tours.
Sanctuary Camelback Mountain Resort
link to book | neighborhood: Paradise Valley (get directions) | price: ~$800-1,300/nt | dog friendly | hot tub

Sanctuary is nestled within the iconic Camelback Mountain. The resort sits on 53 acres of lush desert with delicately manicured grounds, gardens, pools, and high-end accommodations. I can not get enough of the rooms here, nor can I get over the view from the pickleball courts (again, it’s otherworldly).
