The Emerald Closet’s One Year Anniversary

We can’t believe it has been a whole year since we started this blog. On June 13, 2010, we wrote our first post featuring a Seattle fashion designer’s street style.

We’ve come so far in a year—we finally solidified a blog design & logo. We were fortunate enough to interview fashion designer Lauren Moffatt. We spotted some amazing Seattle street style. We made new friends and partnerships. Most importantly, we focused on establishing our voice: a fashion blog that highlights street style, showcases our own personal style, covers fashion news & events, scours the fashion world for the best covet-worthy pieces, and offers style advice.

We are so grateful to all the people who have supported us and the readers who continue to follow our blog. We hope to continue to grow our blog into a resource for all the men and women in the world looking for inspiration and advice.

What is in store for the upcoming year?

We are pleased with the growth of our blog within its first year, but we have plans to make it even bigger and better. Here are some of our goals for the 2011-2012 year:

1. Continue to nurture partnerships with other bloggers and organizations. To kick this initiative off, we will be announcing a very exciting partnership this week.

2. Host more contests. Who doesn’t like free stuff? We just launched out first contest this past week. Well, we have another one in store for this month, and plan to run more throughout the year.

3. Roll out our styling and personal shopping services. As you probably noticed, we have information on our styling and personal shopping services listed across the website. We are planning to finalize the details on this and start taking clients this year.

4. Feature more of our personal style. We just started doing this last month, but we are hoping to amp this up and showcase our style more frequently.

5. Bring on new contributors. Since we’ve solidified our voice, we’re going to start looking to bring on other perspectives. We will start by offering photographers the opportunity to contribute to our street style photos and get their work published on a live website. Interested in this position? Email us.

Thanks again for all your support. We always welcome ideas and suggestions, so please don’t hesitate to let us know what we can do better, either via email or a comment.

We look forward to many more years of creating content for you, our fabulous readers. To reminisce on the past year, here are some of our favorite style guides and photos ranging from our first post on June 13, 2010 to now.
