Seattle Style: Eighties acid wash jeans with grunge flannel shirt
Black Balenciaga Purse: The City Collection

Taupe cuff sandals from Urban Outfitters

We actually ran into Lauren at Pretty Parlor in Capitol Hill, a vintage-inspired shop that sells both secondhand and new items. We loved how her ensemble mixed eighties and grunge with the acid wash jeans and flannel shirt. We also discovered she is a personal shopper at Neiman Marcus in Kirkland and a stylist for Diane von Furstenberg. If you are ever in the area, we suggest you seek her out.

Women wearing all white and Frye boots

We absolutely loved this single-hued color palette. The ivories complement her divine skin and give off an ethereal, soft silhouette. We also found it interesting how she defied textbook proportions. For example, ankle boots often cut the leg in such a way that we need to be conscientious of where a skirt falls. A skirt ending right above the knee can make some women appear stout and disproportionate, but she makes it work here. Plus, the rugged, structural cut of the boots are a welcome contrast to the flowing shape of the outfit. And just to add to the contrast, don’t miss her necklace. It puts the bow on top of a effortlessly chic look.

Boots: Frye boots

Skirt and Belt: purchased at Anthropologie

Shirt: purchased at H&M

Spotted: Downtown, Hard Rock Cafe “Wine Rocks” Event

JCrew Employee Fashion

JCrew Men's Shoes

It just so happens this young man is a J.Crew employee, so his whole outfit was assembled using the brand’s signature disheveled preppy look. We at The Emerald Closet are a big fan of J.Crew. So much in fact, that some of us used to be employed there. Naturally, we were drawn to his easy, laid back style that was pumped up with eye-catching accessories, i.e. the news boy hat and suede loafers. We really appreciated his layering choices, wearing not 1,2, or 3, but 4 layers on top. And of course we always love a light chambray shirt with dark wash jeans.

In addition, we learned an inside tip from a pro. He is wearing J.Crew’s 484 denim, the slimmest jeans they make. However, he suggests getting them tailored even more to, “make a true slim fit.”

Spotted: Downtown, Pine St. & 7th Ave.

Seattle Men's Fashion: Seersucker Suit and Summer Hat

Stylish couple wearing seersucker suit and strappy sandals

The Emerald Closet: fashion shoes in Seattle

Seattle Fashion: Camel-colored canvas messenger bag

Seattle fashion: Balinese rings

As you can probably tell, we could not stop photographing this couple. They had such unique accessories complementing their outfits that we had to document as much of it as possible. Through small talk we discovered that the woman is an importer for her business Kupu Kupu, which is Balinese for “butterfly.” Her rings hold stories of their own: they are both from an Afghani dealer in Thailand. Besides her unique jewelry we absolutely fell in love with her shoes. They make a statement, yet they are practical with a lower wedge heel. And where to begin with the man in the amazing seersucker suit! He could be plopped right into an extravagant party from The Great Gatsby and fit in perfectly. We just absolutely could not get enough!

Women’s Shoes: Dolce Vita

Canvas Messenger Bag: Filson, available at Filson.com

Spotted: Belltown, Pike St. & 2nd Ave.
